Amazing video shows hundreds of DIY fans form a giant human conveyor belt to help a beloved hardware store move to its new premises.

Footage shows crowds of people braving wet and windy weather to help Ashby Toolbox move 600 feet to a bigger shop last Saturday, October 2.

Sales assistant Tina Bax came up with the idea to ask customers to help them move and was stunned by the turn out.

"We thought it would be fun to get a giant conga line going to help us move our stock, but we had no idea so many people would turn up," she said.

“The weather was appalling but everyone was in such good spirits."

Shoppers snaked a quarter of a mile around the English town of Ashby de la Zouch to fill the shelves with 20,000 boxes of stock.

The box upped stock passed hand-to-hand from the old shop to its larger premises.

The shop became a town favorite after opening five-and-a-half years ago.

“I just couldn’t believe how friendly everyone was," Tina added.

“People who’ve lived in Ashby for many years and never met each other had a natter in the line and have become great friends just like that.

"We had a few come up and tell us exactly that in the store, so that is the power of what something as simple as this can do.

“The people of Ashby, when called upon, really did their bit to help each other out. It renewed everyone’s faith in humanity.

“We’re so lucky to have such great support from the local community.”
