This ‘poltergeist cat’ loves to cause chaos in his California home, alongside his owner’s other pets – a skunk, a possum, a tortoise and three dogs.

Recently Spare Tire, a rescue kitty, has taken to running upside down on the underside of his owner’s bed, like a spooky apparition.

“I was in bed and I could hear him at the end of the bed, but then I’d hear him at the beginning and I was like what is he doing?,” said his owner Kristie Cady, a housewife from Bakersfield.

“I looked and all of a sudden he flipped upside down and he runs upside down like the poltergeist.”

Kristie’s son found Spare Tire August 2020 in a spare tire in her husband’s truck, earning the then one-month-old his name.

Because Kristie already owned three dogs, a skunk, a possum and a tortoise she decided not to keep him at first.

But before she had a chance to re-home him, Spare Tire made his move to stay.

“Before I was going to send him off to his forever home, the night before I was going to have him fixed, he jumped from my son’s bed to his dresser and broke his leg,” Kristie said.

“It cost us a $1,000, so my husband said ‘I am going getting a $1,000 worth of hugs from this cat before he ever goes anywhere’ and he has just stuck around since then.”

Spare Tire is a lovable rogue, according to Kristie. He climbs pillars in the house, smacks the family as they walk by, jumps into the dogs’ faces, and causes trouble with the other animals at all times.

“Him and my skunk have a sworn enemies stand off every day,” she said.

And now the moggy has added ‘creepy upside down running’ to his list of things to do.

“Now that I know what he’s doing, he’s doing it constantly,” Kristie said.

But the family loves the cat regardless and say that re-homing him now is out of the question.

“Oh he’s staying,” said Kristie.
