This is the dramatic moment an ex-marine singlehandedly stopped an alleged attempted robbery at a gas station - by calmly grabbing the gun.

Police said three men stormed the gas station and one pointed a gun at the cashier at 4.30 a.m.

CCTV shows in a matter of seconds, a nearby customer disarmed the alleged would-be robber, scared off his accomplices, and detained him until police arrived.

When amazed officers asked the brave bystander how he managed to deal with the raid on his own, he replied: “The Marine Corps taught me not to mess around.”

The incident happened on October 20 at 4:30 a.m. in Yuma, Arizona.

A spokesperson for Yuma County Sheriff's Department said: "Deputies responded to an armed robbery report [...]

"Upon arrival, deputies learned of three suspects entering the Chevron, one of them armed with a handgun.

"The armed suspect walked next to a store customer while pointing the weapon toward the cashier when the customer acted immediately and disarmed him.

"The other two suspects fled the area when they witnessed their fellow criminal stopped.

"The customer was able to detain the suspect he disarmed until law enforcement arrived."

A juvenile has been booked into the Yuma County Juvenile Justice Center for one count of armed robbery and one count of aggravated assault.

Two suspects are still at large.
