British police were forced to reassure drivers that a new road sign will not lead to the Squid Games - because it features a square, circle and triangle.

Thames Valley Police has publically denied that the diversion directs people to the Netflix show.

The yellow board to the side of Junction 5 of England's M4 motorway features a triangle, a square, and a circle with an arrow pointing left.

The set of shapes is used as a logo in the Netflix hit series "Squid Game", where downtrodden Korean people compete against each other in deadly circumstances, for a huge financial prize.

But on UK roads the shapes — square, triangle, circle and diamond — are commonly used to direct Heavy Goods Vehicles.

A card with a phone number on one side and shapes on the other was given to the game's participants in Netflix's "Squid Game".

Thames Valley Police’s roads social media account tweeted: “Evening all.

“So, we can confirm that by following this signage from the M4 Junction 5 in Slough will not lead you to the popular Netflix series #SquidGame.

“It’s just directions for diversion routes during the roadworks…phew!”
