The bellmouth spillways at Ladybower Reservoir, which are 80 feet in diameter can be seen from the east side.

The stunnning spillways discharge water into their own valve houses at the base of Ladybower Dam which run the water through hydro turbines that generate electricity.

Photographs show the water in full flow after weeks of heavy rain and three storms battered Britain.

The reservoir caused nearby villages to be flooded when it was constructed in the early 20th century.

The water levels have famously dropped during hot summers, exposing the flooded villages of Derwent and Ashopton.
