The determined cub took its first walk outside - even taking an adorable tumble as it navigated a step.

The critically endangered Sumatran tiger cub - one of the world’s rarest tigers - was born in December at ZSL London Zoo.

The tiny month-old cub had remained tucked up in its indoor enclosure with m0m Gaysha until now.

CCTV footage shows the unnamed cub take a few wobbly steps before being forced to clamber over a wooden block to get to the outdoor section of the enclosure on Wednesday, January 12.

The cub - whose sex is as yet unknown until its first health check in several weeks - takes a little tumble as it makes its way over the block onto the soft grass outside.

ZSL London Zoo tiger keeper Kathryn Sanders said: "With such lovely weather yesterday, it’s clear she decided it was time for her little one to take its first steps in the outside world.

"We were all holding our breath with excitement as the cub tottered around, using all its strength to clamber after mum.

"It was incredible to watch the youngster find its ‘tiger feet’ for the first time.”
