She might be the favorite among 2022’s possible nominees, but Dolly Parton’s picture won’t be hanging in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame anytime soon – not if Dolly herself has anything to say about it.

In a post on her official Facebook page this morning (March 14), the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter announced that she no longer wished to be considered for official induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

“Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don't feel that I have earned that right,” she wrote. “I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out.”

The country star recently beat out contenders Lionel Richie and Pat Benetar in a recent OnePoll survey, and at the time of publication currently ranks fourth on the official fan vote leaderboard.

While she may not consider herself enough of a rocker right now, that may soon change.

“This has, however, inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock 'n' roll album at some point in the future, which I have always wanted to do!” she wrote.

If Dolly Parton were to make good on that promise, it wouldn’t be long before she’d get another chance at the Hall of Fame – the only official criteria is that the artist’s first record must be 25 years old or older, which is why she was able to be included in this year’s list of nominees.
