A pilot used a plane to write Glory to Ukraine in the sky.

Derek Pake, 59, was inspired to take action when he heard the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky asking for a global show of support for the country.

The air traffic controller, who usually operates out of Prestwick Airport in Scotland took to the skies on Friday to create his message.

It read "Slava Ukraiani" which translates as "Glory to Ukraine."

Derek said: "Many of us have already tried to help Ukraine through charity donations or gifts so I thought I’d try and raise awareness further through my skywriting."

It took 45 minutes to pen the message after taking off from the Isle of Bute, Argyll and Bute.

Derek also took a Ukrainian flag up with him in his home-built Van’s RV-8 plane, which was flown by a friend who sat in the backseat.

At around 3:30 P.M., the aircraft began tracing the letter “s” in the sky above the Kintyre peninsula south of Tarbert.

The message is viewable on radar tracking sites across the world.
