SUV David Beckham drove when at Manchester United being auctioned off

A 22-year-old American SUV previously owned by David Beckham when he played for Manchester United is set to fetch £45,000 ($58,728) at auction.

Beckham became one of the first people in the whole of the United Kingdom to have a Lincoln Navigator shipped out of the USA during his time with the Manchester soccer team Red Devils.

He purchased the gas-guzzling 5.4 liter V8 engine vehicle in 2000 and was regularly seen driving to the team's Carrington training ground in it.

The former England star famously has a love for American cars and went on to purchase a valuable collection of luxury US motors when he joined LA Galaxy.

Now the chance to own one of Goldenballs' former prized possessions is being offered by a UK auctioneers on April 28.

The left-hand drive motor has a 300bhp, does 0-60mph in eight seconds and comes with privacy glass and 20-inch chrome wheels.

It also comes a special number plate featuring the initials of David, Victoria and son Brooklyn, who was a baby at the time, as well as his famous number 7 shirt.

Beckham purchased the seven-seater car for £45,000 at the time and a club source reportedly said: "It is a monster, he must feel like the king of the road.

"No one else at United has a car from the US. It's something else."

The current and second owner, who acquired the vehicle in 2003 - the year Beckham left to join Real Madrid - is now selling it following a complete restoration.

It also includes an original V5 signed by Victoria Beckham and has only 45,000 miles on the clock.

The unique car will be going under the hammer at Mullock's Auctioneers where it expected to fetch between £35,000-45,000.

A Mullock's Auctioneers spokesman said: "A top of the range vehicle from Ford at the time, the Lincoln was considered the showpiece model and one that was worthy of celebrity status.

"This particular model is loaded with luxury extras from a numeric code entry to front doors, to a roof mounted DVD player, heated seats, power pedals and much more.

"No expense was spared in order to ensure that the restoration was of a very high standard.

"The chrome wheels were replaced some years previously but every effort was made to source appropriate American replacements.

"Tyres are as new and thus with relatively low mileage for its age mechanically this vehicle has many years of service life left.

“Lincoln advertises that these engines are good for 100,000 miles without a major service."

The vehicle - which comes with a wood and leather trim - boasted climate controlled seats and a satellite navigation system back in 2000.

The current owner has since added other features including no key entry, a user programmable keypad, anti-lock brakes and adjustable brake and accelerator pedals.

Also included in the sale is a signed match-worn shirt which Beckham wore during Manchester United v Panathinaikos in the Champions League on November 21, 2000.

It is signed on the reverse "Best Wishes David Beckham" and is expected to make between £4,000-6,000 ($5,220-$7,830) .
