Roofer takes mesmerizing photos of mountain mirrored in lake

A roofer captured these stunning pictures of England's highest mountain Scafell Pike perfectly reflected in a lake.

Karl Howard, 31, and his fiancee Georgia Holtby, 27, were in the Lake District when they
came across the rare phenomenon.

The couple had just arrived at the foot of England’s highest mountain on the evening of May 6 when they saw the mirror image in Wastwater lake.

Karl, from Hull, said: “We’d driven from home to the lakes and planned to sleep in the car before getting up early to climb Scafell Pike.

“We wanted to get up the mountain in time for the sunrise to celebrate getting engaged.

"Just after we arrived we could see the mountain perfectly reflected in the lake.

“We stopped the car and just stared at the scene for ages.

“It was incredible, there wasn’t a even a ripple on the lake and it looked like a mirror.

“I got my phone out and went for a walk on the shore of Wastwater and just started taking pictures.

“I’m really happy with how they came out. It’s not often you see Scafell Pike like that. No one else was around and it was just gorgeous.”

The couple, who have three children and have recently got engaged, scaled the 978m (3,209ft) early the next morning in time to watch the sunrise.
