PCSO Chris Jones managed to catch the bird in his police jacket as it waddled along Long Lane in Attenborough.

The scene mirrors the 2007 police comedy "Hot Fuzz," where stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost capture a runaway swan.

The bird was placed in a police van and then released back into the wild.

In a Facebook post, Broxtowe South Police, said: "It was time for Beeston PCSO Jones to swan into action following a call from a member of the public concerning a swan wandering around along the main road on Long Lane in Attenborough today.

"PCSO Jones was caught swanning about and managed to secure the swan and bring it to safety.

"It was a no comment interview with the swan and he was placed into the van and reunited with his friends….. well done to PCSO Jones for your rescue efforts."
