Watch the cute moment lion cub stands up to his dad

This is the cute moment a lion cub stands up to his father for jokingly picking on him - prompting his mom to get involved and defend her offspring.

Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo named their newest cub Pilipili after he was born March 15 to 3-year-old lioness Zari and her 4-year-old mate, Jabari.

Since his arrival, Pilipili has become quite the attraction, with visitors cramming to get a quick look at the three-month old lion cub.

In the video, dad Jabari can be seen persistently swiping his little one's paws from underneath him causing him to fall over.

Pilipili's reacts to his dad's mischievousness by turning round and giving a gentle roar - but this isn't enough to stop him playing.

Jabari carries on for a while before mom Zari marches over and seems to communicate with her mate, telling him to cut it out.

At first, he listens, but he soon goes back for more, prompting Zari to chase him away from their offspring.

The video was filmed on June 6.
