These cute little owls are trying to keep their cool in 109°F heat.

The burrowing owls were pictured enjoying a bowl of water – and a sprinkler – in the high temps being experienced in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Bird photographer Mark Koster has been assisting at the Owl Habitat at Scottsdale Community College by maintaining a water supply for the birds.

He explains: “My wife Linda and I set up the water pan as the temps are now around 110° daily and there is no accessible water source for the kids.

“The adults fly over to a nearby baseball field when they are watering the field with sprinklers, but the kids can't fly over the fence yet.

“The family have been using the water pan now regularly and are providing some really cute shots.

“We go out every afternoon to refresh the water.”
