A group of men on a hunting trip on a South African private game reserve banded together to rescue a baby elephant that had become stuck in a hole.

Shaun (no last name given provided), 34, from Thabazimbi, South Africa captured the footage as the group of four men joined efforts to save the calf.

The daring rescue shows two men getting into the hole with the animal in an attempt to push it up from behind, while another one is seen pulling it from the front by its trunk.

Unable to lift it out, the three men then banded together to pull the animal from the front by its trunk, ears and legs.

Eventually, the animal is set free.

It took approximately 30 minutes for the group to lift the elephant out of the hole.

It is unclear how the baby elephant had become stuck.

The footage was filmed in December 2021.
