British police have finally been given SWAN handling lessons - after years of officers going viral with their bungled attempts to control the birds.

Police from Gloucestershire constabulary spent the day being shown how to pick up and handle the famously-feisty animals.

For years officers have been pictured trying to steer swans from roads - often taking them away in patrol cars.

They have been dubbed 'Hot Fuzz' moments in reference to the British film featuring coppers Simon Pegg and Nick Frost dealing with angry swans.

Now officers in Stroud have been shown how to deal with them properly - during a course at WWT Slimbridge - a wetland wildlife reserve.
