This sleeping man awoke in terror when a cobra slithered into his bed and attacked him.
Jai Upadhyay was sleeping on the floor in a temple when CCTV cameras caught a huge Indian spectacled cobra snaking across the ground and into his blanket last Sunday (September 5, 2021).
About four minutes later, ICT manager Jai started to stir until he leaped to his feet, revealing the angry snake jumping and lunging at him.
Fortunately, Jai was unharmed, and the snake can be seen moving away under a bench after the encounter.
The attack happened at about midnight while Jai, who practices Hinduism slept in the Mandareshwar Temple in Banswara, India in front of the Shivling, an icon of Lord Shiva.
The temple is situated in the middle of the Aravalli mountain range where cobras and other dangerous wildlife like leopards roam freely at night.
Indian cobras are a member of the 'big four' species that inflict the most snakebites on humans in India. They are protected under the Indian Wildlife Protection Act.
