A UFO-shaped aircraft is set for take-off.

Company Zeva Aero has unveiled a new prototype design for their personal flying machine.

The Tacoma-based firm say the Z2 will transition from hover mode to forward flight mode and cruise comfortably at 160mph.

There are also plans to give the single person craft the ability to park on the side of skyscrapers using so-called SkyDocks.

"The Z2 is faster, has more stable landing gear, and is designed to be fully autonomous in the coming years," Zeva said.

"Like its predecessor, the Z2 requires no special infrastructure or massive landing pad and is compact enough to fit several within a single shipping container."

The first prototype underwent successful flight tests in January this year; flying untethered in its first series of taxiing tests.

Described as being 100% electric, Zeva has dubbed their aircraft the ultimate green machine, with zero emissions.

It will have the ability to take off and land almost anywhere and offers a best in class range of 50 miles.

The machine takes off vertically and then travels horizontally - putting the pilot in a Superman-style flying position.

"This versatility makes it uniquely suited for expansive use cases including first response for emergencies and quickly delivering critical goods to front lines and disaster areas," Zeva said.

"The Z2 will be more accessible for personal use than most eVTOLs in development today and offers a carbon emission-free way to travel, live and move about."

The Z2 is still in the funding and development stage and no price has been announced.
