Locals hope to restore tiny 20th century island village to former glory

These stunning drone pictures show a tiny 20th century island - which locals hope to restore to its former glory.

The picturesque Dutch Village was built at Craigtoun Country Park, near St Andrews, Fife, in 1920 by architect Paul W. Whitehouse.

It is said to hold special memories for generations of locals who remember visiting it as children – but over the years the ornate buildings fell into disrepair.

In 2012, the park was under threat of closure and community group Friends of Craigtoun Park took over management of the park.

They are now hoping to carry out major refurbishments to bring the Dutch Village back to life.

In 2018 the boathouse underwent a £120,000 ($132,075) facelift but it is understood the cost of full restoration of the buildings will run into seven figures.
