The 42nd Scheveningen Kite Festival, the largest international kite festival in the Netherlands, opened Saturday on the beach of Scheveningen, a district of the Hague.

On Saturday morning, beautiful kites of various colors, shapes and sizes, including flying dragons, whales and crabs, decorated the sky over the Scheveningen beach.

During the two-day kite festival, kite pilots from dozens of countries will present kite-flying air shows and demonstrations.

Besides admiring the flying kites, visitors can also enjoy kite-powered sport programs such as kite-surfing, and learn to make or fly a kite themselves.
