A lion rescued from a circus was pictured tearing into a Halloween piñata.

Boss, 22, was rescued from captivity in Belgium in 2015.

He now lives at Five Sisters Zoo, West Calder, West Lothian with companions Skinny and Twin Two, both 15.

Boss, who doesn't have a mane as he has been castrated, pounced on a cardboard pumpkin given by zookeepers in advance of Halloween.

It was sprayed with perfume to attract the big cats.
