A pilot crashed his plane upside down on a beach in Florida before stepping out unscathed.

TikTok creator Joseph Cook was walking down a beach on Anastasia Island with his metal detector when he heard a crash and saw a plane crashing nose-first into the beach.

The footage shows Joseph beginning to dig something out from the sand when he suddenly hears a noise and begins to run.

He can be heard screaming: "Oh my god, oh my god, somebody just crashed."

When he raises the camera a small yellow plane can be seen lying upside down in the sand, with several people standing around including the pilot, who just stepped out, unhurt.

The small aircraft was surveying damage from Hurricane Nicole when its engine failed, leaving the pilot to glide, landing the plane by the water to avoid harming walkers.

The plane was severely damaged and the engine and rotors were bent.

Joseph said: "I heard it hit the water, I heard nothing at all before it crashed, I looked up and I watched the plane flip on its back end.

"That's the crazy part, I had no clue he was coming in, he was trying to land on the beach, but I was in his path."

"By the time the plane had flipped on its back the guy was just standing there in the water, he must've jumped out.

"He was in pretty good shape, though, you can see him lift his hat, but I'm pretty sure the guy was just fixing his hair.

"That's the worst part, he probably could have landed it on the beach, but he didn't want to hit anyone," Joseph continued.

"They ended up pulling the plane out with a tractor."

The incident happened on November 15.
