Millennial and Gen Z workers more likely to take a sick day

MILLENNIALS AND GEN Z ARE MORE LIKELY TO TAKE A SICK DAY THAN ANY OTHER GENERATION, ACCORDING TO A NEW SURVEY. 

THE POLL OF 2,000 ADULTS REVEALED 41% ARE LIKELY TO TAKE A SICK DAY THE MOMENT THEY START FEELING UNDER THE WEATHER.

RESULTS SHOW THE YOUNGEST GENERATIONS WERE MOST LIKELY TO CALL IN SICK AT WORK (36% AND 45%, RESPECTIVELY), WHILE OLDER GENERATIONS LIKE GEN-X AND BABY BOOMERS WERE MORE WILLING TO WORK THROUGH IT (30% AND 47%).

COMMISSIONED BY ZICAM AND CONDUCTED BY ONEPOLL, THE STUDY FOUND MORE THAN THREE IN FIVE (64%) ARE MORE LIKELY TO CANCEL PLANS NOW THAN BEFORE THE PANDEMIC WHEN SICK. 

SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE PANDEMIC, 71% ARE SELF-CONSCIOUS WHEN THEY COUGH OR SNEEZE IN PUBLIC — 61% WILL DO ALMOST ANYTHING TO AVOID DOING SO.

Survey methodology:

This random double-opt-in survey of 2,000 Nationally Representative Americans was commissioned by Zicam between Oct. 5 and Oct. 11 2022 It was conducted by market research company OnePoll, whose team members are members of the Market Research Society and have corporate membership to the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) and the European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research (ESOMAR).
