This stunning picture shows a meteor shower over King Charles' stately home, Dumfries House, Scotland.

Dad-of-four Craig McComb, 42, took the photos during temperatures of -11 °C (12°F), on December 15 between 9:15 P.M. to 11:45 P.M.

Craig, who works as a joiner, spent two-and-a-half hours trying to avoid getting in the shots, at Dumfries House, East Ayrshire.

The North Star is the focal point for the images.

Craig, from Auchinleck, East Ayrshire, said: "The meteor shower peaked that night.

"Normally I go for a walk then come back.

"I set it all up and was on a set of steps and stood behind the camera for two-and-a-half hours.

"I took around 250 shots.

"You have to make sure the camera gear does not freeze up so I've got a lens heater.

"It's good to get out.

"The meteor shower peaked around 10 P.M.

"The picture isn't edited in Photoshop but you stick the images on top of each other.

"Everything rotates around the North Star."
