A family was rescued from a swimming pool after their Tesla crashed through a wall.

The 4-year-old boy, his mother and grandmother were plucked from the vehicle after the incident in Pasadena, California on Tuesday, January 10.

The accident reportedly happened when the driver stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake while pulling into a parking space in nearby Pacific Oaks Children’s School.

Smashing through the wall of a suburban home, the car was entirely submerged in a backyard pool.

Members of the public were able to jump into the water and rescue the occupants.

While firefighters checked the child at the scene, no-one suffered injuries needing hospitalisation.

Pasadena Fire Department said: "Two good Samaritans rescued a 4-year-old boy, his mother and his grandmother after their Tesla crashed through a wall and fell and into a backyard pool in the 700 block of West California Boulevard in Pasadena. No one was injured."
