"My family and I were very surprised as we haven't seen a manatee before and we definitely didn't expect to see one catching a water break from our hose."

This playful manatee was spotted getting free dental "water pic" treatment after it repeatedly grinned and rinsed its teeth with drips coming off a boat engine.

The marine mammal is hilariously seen opening its peculiar-looking mouth to catch some of the off-shooting water.

Ethan Schmidt, 19, was vacationing in Pompano Beach, Fla., and caught the not-so-majestic creature trying to quench its thirst.

Ethan, from West Chester, Ohio, said: "My family and I were very surprised as we haven't seen a manatee before and we definitely didn't expect to see one catching a water break from our hose."

The family said that they had never seen anything like this adding to the hilarity.

Despite the friendly nature of marine mammals, they are facing a significant mortality epidemic.

So far in 2023, 56 manatees have died in Florida, three have died in boat encounters while 10 have been related to births and eight from the state's recent cold spell.

The deaths of the other 29 have yet to be determined.
