A dad saved the day when he stepped up and completed his daughter's two-week-long Fortnite challenge - after she fell ill on the final day and was unable to finish.

Michael Whitehouse, 43, took over from Fortnite-obsessed daughter Rowan on the 13th day of the challenge after she had already amassed 47,000 - of the 48,000 points - needed.

Heroic Michael picked up the controller when eight-year-old Rowan fell ill and was unable to complete the "Most Wanted" challenge.

With only one task left, Michael took it upon himself to complete the challenge and claim the prize for Rowan after all her hard work.

Michael, a virtual event organizer, has been a gamer since the 1980's and had been playing Fortnite with Rowan over the last six months as way to engage with her.

Fortnite is the world's most popular video game and regularly has limited challenges, where players can earn rewards including weapons, skins and characters.

Michael, from Connecticut, said: "The 'Most Wanted' challenge was a lengthy challenge with a series of tasks to complete to get the skin.

"To be honest, when I first looked at it, I thought it was too long to bother, but Rowan dived right in.

"I often don't have enough time to play to complete these limited time challenges like this.

"When I saw the progress she was making, I realized that we could get there, so I started working on it alongside her.

"There was less than a day left in the challenge, which we needed 48,000 points to complete.

"She had gotten to 47,000 points, so only one more objective needed to be done to get the final prize."

Michael and Rowan were so close to completing the "Most Wanted" challenge, but disaster struck as Rowan was taken ill and was unable to continue the game.

"I went up to talk to her and she was feeling pretty crummy. I told her that I would take care of making sure she got the skin, so I picked up the controller and finished the last task," Michael added.

Michael quickly completed the challenge and took to TikTok to document the special moment between him and Rowan.

The video quickly went viral with many online praising Michael for his dedication to Rowan's interests.

Michael added: "You can tell that this video tapped into a need that many people on the platform have.

"There are a great many people who wish they had this kind of relationship with their fathers.

"For some it's a simple matter of wishing that their dad was into their hobbies, but I got many comments from people whose parents are absent, abusive, dead, or otherwise not even in their lives or a negative influence."
