A comfort-loving couple ditched their dresses halfway through their wedding - to reappear on the dancefloor in matching sweatsuits.

Katie Grimes, 25, showed up alongside her now-wife Caitlin Grimes, 32, in wedding dresses, but surprised guests at the wedding reception.

They reappeared for their "second grand entrance" wearing matching Adidas sweatsuits and sneakers, with their new name on the back.

The newlyweds, from Fullerton, California, tore up the dancefloor in their comfy attire.

Katie, who runs a silent disco company, said: "We knew we needed to be comfortable because it was a long event ending at 1 am.

"The dresses we wore were so heavy, so I was so excited to get out of the dress - it was the biggest relief.

"We kept it a secret, people just went crazy when they saw us and everyone circled the dance floor.

"My wife and I, we are both main characters and we love to get a reaction so it was perfect.

"It was the best decision we ever made!"

Katie explained that due to having their wedding on New Year's Eve, they had a long night ahead of them.

Their wedding dresses weighed around 30lbs each and they expected to be tired by 9:30 pm, on their big day on December 31, 2022.

Katie said both of them like to be "over the top" and loved the reaction they got.

She said: "When you have a New Year's Eve wedding, it’s a good excuse to go over the top!

"Typically at your wedding, you aren't meant to wear a sweatsuit - but that's just who we are, forget what society says!

"We do what makes us happy."

Katie added: "I would recommend for anybody to do what feels good for them.

"If wearing a dress feels good, stay in your dress.

"If you're anything like me and value comfort, it was the best decision ever.

"A sweatsuit is definitely much easier to dance in than a 30lbs dress!"
