Woman creates hilarious cake of King Charles to celebrate the Coronation

A mom who taught herself how to bake has created a hilarious "Spitting Image"-style (a British puppet show) cake of King Charles to celebrate the Coronation.

Angela Margett, 52, spent two days building her royal masterpiece on top of a Victoria sponge base.

The mom-of-two has been baking for friends and family for the last 33 years and is completely self-taught, using YouTube tutorials to help her bake.

She was commissioned by a friend to create a King Charles cake to mark the Coronation for a deaf community party.

Angela, from Chellaston, Derby, England, said: “We have a friend whose parents are both deaf.

"Obviously the Coronation is around the corner they wanted a Charles cake for a deaf community get-together.

“They asked me if I would make a cake. I have this reputation with friends and family that I can make cakes for them so they asked me.

“The deaf community sent me an image of a cake they wanted. The cake they sent me wasn’t brilliant. They emphasized the fact they wanted it more of a cartoon style.

“I googled the 'Spitting Image' puppet of Charles and based it off that. Charles has very prominent features luckily.

“I would say it took about two hours in total. Basically what I had to do was cover it first, let it dry, and then add detail. It was over two days but over two hours in total.

“I've been doing it for the last 33 years. It's gone barmy. Its been absolutely crazy.

“I’m self-taught originally. I got it into my head that I wanted to make my own engagement cake.

“I would suggest it’s the most usual that I’ve made. It’s not the most complicated, but one of the most unusual.

“I've been asked to recreate a birds pork pie. Charles is certainly one of the most unusual.”
