Gardener loves pruning in hot pants and doesn’t care what people say

Meet the glamorous gardener who loves pruning plants in hot pants and sequins and takes no notice of thorny comments.

Lucie Nicola, 40, spends hours every day tending to her garden in Birchanger, Essex, England.

And although most people garden in old clothes, the mom-of-two likes to dress up - as she says it helps her handiwork.

Lucie, who runs a mobile soft play business and is a published model, says she sometimes gets comments from onlookers.

But they don't faze her - as loads of other people say how great she looks.

Lucie said: "Most people would go out in old clothes.

"But my garden makes me so happy and brings me so much joy, I want to feel as beautiful as the plants I'm planting.

"Feeling great about myself makes my garden more beautiful and makes me perform better.

"I've had comments saying I 'walk up and down like a catwalk,' or people asking 'why does she feel the need to wear these clothes?'

"Some people just think it's more for attention than doing what I'm doing. But so many people think it's great, showing people gardening is for all ages."

Lucie lives with husband Andy, 46, a self-employed business owner and their two children Abbie, 16, and Zack, 13.

She estimates she has spent around £5,000 ($6,357) on her garden, which is her pride and joy.

Her love for gardening began when she was just seven years old.

Lucie said: "I had garden envy. I remember thinking as soon as I live on my own I can't wait to get into it.

"Now, going to garden centers is one of my favorite things to do - and I can't go anywhere without getting a flower or a plant."

"I don't drink. I much prefer buying a plant than drinking a bottle of wine."

Lucie lives on the main road of her village - where she "can't be missed."

Spending at least two hours everyday in her green spaces, she says the upkeep is constant.

Lucie said: "I'm out there every single day and can't relax until it's tidy, I'll make it look tidy all through the year.

"My children have grown up with their mum being a freak in the garden so it's not like I just started something new.

"My husband loves it. I've converted a non-gardener into gardening."

And, after setting up an Instagram offering tips and tricks, she has amassed a following of thousands.

Lucie said: "I'm known as the lady who is always in her garden.

"I just want to be known as a glamour gardener, and I want to make people feel like they can feel lovely in their garden.

"I want to make gardening sexy, fun and interesting, and you can definitely make your garden look pretty on a budget."
