A drunk driver was arrested after accidentally calling 911 ON HIMSELF - by reporting someone speeding the wrong way on a highway.

The motorist, who wasn't named, is heard explaining his whereabouts saying that somebody else was driving on the wrong side of the road.

He was arrested after a nearby officer responded and found him driving the wrong way and a breathalyzer test revealed the driver was twice the legal limit.

Video, released by Lancaster County Sheriff's Office in Nebraska shows the attending officer approaching the driver on the same highway with the 911 call overlayed.

The man is heard saying: "He had his brights on. He almost ran me off the road."

The driver is then booked in the back of the squad car where he confirms he was the one who rang the police.

Lancaster County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post: "The incident, caught on video by the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, on Highway 77 in Lancaster County.

"A deputy was able to arrest the driver before anyone was seriously hurt.

"The driver had a blood alcohol content of over twice the legal limit."

The footage was captured in March 2023.
