Doctor Who fans can pay $24K to buy this former police box - just like the TARDIS.

Designed in the 1930s each British city chose its own architect and original design for the famous boxes.

One is now for sale at a starting price of £22K ($24K USD) in Edinburgh, Scotland, which was designed by Ebenezer James MacRae.

The boxes were used by police officers on the beat to contact their stations for updates and orders.

But as technological advances were made they began to fall out of use - demolished or turned into coffee shops or street food stands.

This one was most recently operating as a flower shop.

The property has an electricity supply, as well as a water connection that can be reinstated, and a telephone point where a landline can be installed.

Situated within walking distance of the city center, and next to the Royal Botanic Gardens, the property is settled in an area with plenty of footfall from tourists and locals alike.

“This former police box offers a small business owner the chance to own a piece of Edinburgh’s history and operate their business in a truly unique setting,” said Mandi Cooper, the Managing Director of Auction House Scotland.

“What’s more, the unit is in a fantastic location that benefits from high levels of local and tourist footfall, along with a number of bus stops close by.”

The former police box is due to go under the hammer at Auction House Scotland’s next in-room auction at 2.00 pm on September 13, at the Radisson RED hotel, Glasgow.
