Ed Sheeran donates 149 pairs of boxers to children’s charity

Pop superstar Ed Sheeran has donated almost 150 pairs of his boxer shorts to raise money for a children's charity.

The Shape of You singer has given almost 450 items of clothing and accessories to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) to auction off on eBay.

This includes a whopping 149 pairs of boxer shorts - some which have been worn - and seven pieces of merchandise from his favorite football team, Ipswich Town.

Ed, who has been an ambassador for the charity since 2014, also donated a range of items including 20 jumpers, 11 pairs of trousers, 14 hats and 73 pairs of socks.

Garments will not be washed or ironed and all sales will be accompanied by a signed letter of authenticity.

Kevin Clements, director of fundraising at the charity, described Ed's gesture as 'extremely kind' which will 'raise thousands of pounds' for the hospice.

He said: "It’s an extraordinary gesture and extremely kind of Ed.

"His generosity will raise thousands of pounds for our wonderful charity.

"Despite his incredible success and sky-high profile, he remains a loyal champion and we’re eternally grateful for his support.

"We realize how lucky we are.

"It’s invaluable and helps raise the profile of the vital care we provide to local children and families."

The Castle On the Hill singer and his family have donated over 400 garments and accessories and the majority of them will be sold on eBay.

Kevin added he thinks the donations will 'undoubtedly cause a stir' amongst Ed's fans from all over the world.

He said: "In total, Ed and his family have donated 445 garments and accessories and the vast majority are going to be sold via eBay auctions.

"He has fans all over the world and these donations will undoubtedly cause a stir.

"It’s going to be exciting and fascinating to see how things pan out."

Ed performed an acoustic set at a gala fundraiser for the charity is 2016, where he donated a drum kit which was auctioned for £2,650.
