Study finds the best part of the Super Bowl is not the actual game

HOW MANY MINUTES OF THE SUPER BOWL ARE YOU PLANNING TO WATCH THIS YEAR? IF IT’S LESS THAN HALF OF THE GAME, YOU’RE NOT ALONE. 

NEW RESEARCH REVEALS THAT THE AVERAGE AMERICAN WILL ONLY WATCH 29 MINUTES OF GAME PLAY.

THAT’S ACCORDING TO A SURVEY OF 2,000 U.S. ADULTS WHICH REVEALED THAT WHILE 40% LOOK FORWARD TO ATTENDING OR HOSTING A PARTY FOR THE BIG GAME, ALMOST ONE IN 10 (9%) ADMIT THEY’RE UNLIKELY TO KNOW WHICH TEAMS ARE PLAYING BEFORE THEY TURN ON THE TV.

RESULTS ALSO REVEALED THAT THE HALF-TIME SHOW (55%), COMMERCIALS (45%) AND THE DRINKS (40%) ALL OUTWEIGH THE COMPETITION ON THE FIELD.

CONDUCTED BY ONEPOLL ON BEHALF OF CHARBROIL, RESULTS ALSO REVEALED THAT 29% OF RESPONDENTS SPEND MORE TIME IN FRONT OF THE FOOD THAN ANYWHERE ELSE.

BUT EVEN SO, MORE THAN THREE-QUARTERS (77%) CAN AGREE THAT IT’S RUDE TO STAND AND TALK IN THE SAME ROOM THAT PEOPLE ARE WATCHING THE GAME.

Survey methodology:

This random double-opt-in survey of 2,000 American adults who watch the Super Bowl was commissioned by Charbroil between Dec. 8 and Dec. 12, 2023. It was conducted by market research company OnePoll, whose team members are members of the Market Research Society and have corporate membership to the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) and the European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research (ESOMAR).
