A man who found fame because of his passion for the nation's rubbish bins has gone international - and picked his top five receptacles from around the world.

Dave Clarke - nicknamed "Dustbin Dave" - hit the headlines last year when it was revealed he had amassed more than 10,000 photos of British rubbish bins.

Dave, 53, revealed his favorite British bin to be one decorated like a Fab ice cream at Thrigby Wildlife Gardens near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

Recently he has been swamped with photos of bins from around the world which have been sent by friends, family and other bin fans via his Facebook Page Bins Fantastic.

And he has carefully picked his favorite five.

The dad-of-two said: “These people are regular bin senders, and like me they have become addicted to looking for bins.

"We enjoy the variety out there and like to see whether they are for recycling or general waste.

“We look forward to seeing what everyone else thinks of them but we’re also raising ‘bin awareness’ for people to use them instead of littering.”

Dave regularly takes part in beach cleans in Norfolk with his family and goes litter picking around Caister-on-Sea where he lives.

He said: "It annoys us all how dog poo bags are chucked in hedges, take away packets are just thrown in nearby car parks where there are bins nearby."

He also hosts of his own 'Bin of the Week' where the most-liked dustbin on a Sunday evening is crowned the winner on his Facebook page.

Winners of three 'bins of the week' will get a unique certificate sent by Dave himself.

The bin enthusiast says his favorite bins often change as he gets sent in so many from fellow hobbyists.

From the island of Tenerife in Spain to the city of Kiruna in Sweden, Dave has shared his top five favorite bins from across the globe.

Dave's top five international bins:

  1. Phafos, Cyprus

This metal fish bin is one of many often seen in seaside towns, with Dave saying he was sent a similar one in from Southend last week.

He said: “It’s exclusively for bottles and cans although unfortunately it gets all the general rubbish chucked in too.”

  1. L'isle Jourdain, France

Dave said: "This elegant French bin would be the pride of any town."

  1. Wijk ann Zee, Holland

Dave said these bins from a village in Holland are “super.”

He said: “The waste goes underground and everyone in Europe seems much more advanced with their bin system than here in the UK.

  1. Kiruna, Sweden Dave said this bin in the Icehotel 34 is a “a sleek slimline black bin in the ultimate location.”
  2. Tenerife, Canary Islands

Dave said: “This is a fun stand out bin which reminds me of the HMV sign - it stands out and people would definitely take notice of this one."
