Doctor celebrates 2000th vasectomy with a sperm-themed cake

A doctor has celebrated completing his 2000th vasectomy - with a sperm-themed cake.

Dr. Mungo Morris has successfully given two thousand 'snips' - performed under local anesthetic in as little as ten minutes

The doctor, from Stroud, Glos, was given a cake to honor the landmark - written with two and three sperm-shaped icings.

He says he hopes to raise awareness about the procedure - and explains what motivated him to specialize in this area.

He said: "I'm a firm believer that every child should be a wanted child, especially at this time of increasing financial and environmental pressure.

"I’ve had my own vasectomy so have a good understanding of what the patients are going through, and enjoy making conversation to take their minds off things.

"I get to meet some pretty amazing people and learn a bit about their lives.

"I’ve performed them on everyone from professional falconer to wrestler in the past!

"Routine general practice is challenging at the moment so even though I typically do ten vasectomies on a Friday, it can almost feel like a holiday from the day job”.

Dr. Morris’s 2000th patient described why he went ahead with the procedure.

He said: “I decided to get a vasectomy as I have two amazing children with my wife of 16 years.

“I was made to feel at ease from the moment I walked in, the procedure was fully explained and was far less uncomfortable than expected.

"It was a little tender but the discomfort was easily managed with paracetamol.”
