Wildlife fan snaps squirrels acting acrobatic

A wildlife fan has snapped squirrels appearing to do gymnastics.

Niki Colemont photographed the agile critters in the woodlands of Diepenbeek, Belgium - and was impressed by their handstands.

He sometimes puts out tasty treats such as walnuts and observes their efforts to get the snacks.

Niki says: "Over the past eight years, my fascination with the playful antics of squirrels has only grown. I've spent countless hours observing their acrobatic endeavors, from daring leaps between branches to impressive balancing acts. However, what I witnessed recently left me utterly flabbergasted.

"Just when I thought I had seen it all, nature presented me with a spectacle that surpassed my wildest expectations. With my camera at the ready, I managed to capture images that I'm still trying to wrap my head around – squirrels performing handstands with such poise and perfection that it could rival any seasoned gymnast.

"The precision of their tiny paws, expertly balanced against the rough bark, and fluffy tails waving like a banner of triumph was a sight to behold. It's moments like these that remind me of the sheer wonder hidden in the every day and the joy of sharing these glimpses into the secret lives of our furry neighbors.

"Nature truly has an endless capacity to surprise and delight us, and this little squirrel's flawless handstand is proof of that."
