Amazing timelapse footage shows the Falkirk Wheel’s four-minute operating time in just a few seconds.

Footage shows the wheel transferring a canal boat from the Union Canal - 35 meters down - to the Forth and Clyde Canal below.

David Wilkinson, 47, captured the footage on Sunday, June 9.

David, an accountant from Falkirk, Scotland, said: “Anytime I put anything out on socials about the Falkirk wheel, it gets a really good response.

“Lots of people have seen it from around the world and a lot of the time they don’t believe it’s real."

David's videos have gone viral with 109m views on Facebook and 13m views on TikTok, where he posts under the name Scotdrone

He said: "I've had commenters from Australia and America and lots of them don't believe its real.

"The Falkirk locals can get a bit defensive in the comments when they see that!

“I even had people asking if it was AI!”

The Falkirk Wheel opened in 2002 and is the world’s only rotating boat lift.

It is now one of Scotland’s busiest tourist attractions with 500,000 visitors each year.
