A peacock was rescued from a 50-foot-deep well after being trapped inside for 24 hours.

A farmer working in the field at the Multai Forest Range in Badegaon, India, spotted the peacock unconscious in the well on Thursday.

Footage shows a snake catcher using a rope to lower himself into the well.

After a slight struggle, he managed to grab the peacock and was hoisted up from the well's depths by local residents pulling the rope.

The peacock was handed over to the Forest Department for a medical assessment and has now been deemed healthy and uninjured.

Forest officials now plan to release the peacock back into the wild.
