Woman makes $100K a year being available 24/7 for new parents

A newborn care specialist makes up to $ 100k a year being on hand 24/7 for new moms and says it gives them the "time to recover."

Renee Crooks, 38, is a live in nurse who provides around the clock care to newborn moms.

She comforts the baby between feeds and is on hand to help with bottle washing, laundry or whatever they need.

Renee says it's allows the mom a chance to rest and recover.

She does still make sure she takes breaks and doesn't book clients back to back so she can spent time with her five-month-old daughter and her two sons - 21 and 13.

Renee, a newborn care specialist, from New York, US said: "They have time to recover.

"It's very time consuming taking care of a newborn.

"I make sure they are getting adequate recovery."

Renee has been a nanny for 10 years after she came over to the US from Jamaica in 2015.

The mom-of-three spends 10 days to three weeks with new moms after being vetted by them.

She is often booked up months in advance and is on hand to help with anything they need - even just to give them a break to take a shower.

Renee said: "I make sure bottles are washed.

"I support women with breast feeding.

"I boost confidence.

"I'm there for help - to teach them these skills. It empowers them.

"I tell them you're not going crazy."

Renee says the majority of the time the baby is with their mom but she is there to give as much support as they need.

She said: "I don't take them away from them so they can sleep all day long.

"It's a collaboration between me and them.

"The fact I'm a part of the first few weeks it feels like I can be part of their entire lives.

"These women know something when I leave them. They are confident."

Renee charges between $350 to $500 per day for an eight to 10 hour shift and can make between $60k to $100k - depending on how much work she takes on.

She said: "It's a luxury not everyone can afford.

"They know the value of what I provide.

"It's the best thing you can do.

"There is always strength in asking for help.

"It's physically taxing. You should be able to ask for help.

"The first nights test you. They are angels when they are born and in hospital.

"Once you walk through the hospital doors you realize you don't have a nurse."

Renee hopes newborn care can become accessible for everyone.

She said: "I wish everyone could afford it.

"It reduces the stress and anxiety."
