Giant dust devil swoops through military training base

This is the moment a large dust devil swept through a military training base in Hawaii.

Jesse Trias, 23, was participating in field training at the Pohakuloa Training Area in June when the dust storm began to form.

Video shows a rushing swirl of sand spiraling upwards to the sky slowly moving around a group of tents.

Jesse, who is enlisted in the Army National Guard, said: "This is the first time I’ve seen something like this.

"The whole area was affected by the storm but luckily this dust devil didn’t pass through our tents."

According to Jesse, the phenomenon lasted for approximately an hour.

Luckily, no one was injured and no important equipment was lost.
