An exceptionally rare ‘Fantastic Four’ comic book could fetch a whopping £8,000 (over $10,000) when it comes up for auction.

The 'no.5' US edition of the graphic novel, released by Marvel in 1962, features the first appearance of Doctor Doom and comes sealed in a CGC wallet.

And the pricey literature is part of an impressive comic book and memorabilia sale that could make £55,000 (over $70,000) when the pieces go under the hammer on August 21.

Other items include ‘The Amazing Spider-Man No. 3’ comic book, a US issue from 1963 featuring the first appearance of Dr. Octopus, which is expected to fetch £1,500 (nearly $2,000).

While a ‘Giant-Size X-Men No. 1’ graphic novel from 1975, where characters Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Thunderbird were introduced and Wolverine got his first full outing, could go for £1,200 (over $1,500).

There are also some sought-after children's comic books in the impressive collection.

This includes a beautifully presented group of 14 bound hardcover volumes of The Beano from 1969 to 1986, which could sell for £1,500 (nearly $2,000).

Experts expect a similar collection of 14 bound hardcover volumes of The Dandy to make a similar figure - which includes classic characters such as Desperate Dan and Korky the Cat.

The piece will go under the hammer at Ewbanks Auction House.

And its head of comics, Thomas Francis-Duma, said he was astonished by the huge selection on offer.

He said: “This is a unique chance to own a professionally curated run of Dandy issues.

“From a single owner, never previously offered for sale, we consider this to be the finest selection of Dandy issues ever auctioned at Ewbank’s.

"I’ve never seen anything like it.”

The auction includes numerous other must-haves, including an original hand-drawn storyboard from the Christopher Reeves film Superman, valued at £400 (over $500).

And there is also a copy of 'The Avengers Omnibus Volume 1' signed by the most celebrated comic artist of them all, Stan Lee, priced at up to £1,000 (over $1,300).
