A father and son who share a love for "Doctor Who" built a TARDIS complete with a control console and the iconic blue box.

Pablo Agurcia, 37, has been a fan of the British science fiction series for almost 15 years.

When watching the first episode with Ncuti Gatwa in the lead role in December 2023, his son Joaquim Agurcia, six, joined him and instantly became hooked.

During the summer holidays, the duo decided to build the TARDIS - the time machine and spacecraft used by Doctor Who.

It only took a matter of hours to build, but it has led to endless days of fun for Joaquim.

Pablo, a children's book illustrator from Charlotte, North Carolina, said: "It's always been important to me that my kids are able to play with their imaginations.

"Getting to play with my son on something I happen to enjoy so much as well is just so wonderful.

The pair used an old cardboard box, polystyrene foam and a collection of old wires and bolts from the garage to create what is now their TARDIS console.

To build the exterior they used a bookshelf in the shape of a phone box and painted it blue.

Pablo said: "I saw this woman in my neighborhood was selling a phone box bookshelf on Vinted Marketplace for $25 so I jumped on it.

"We've taken out the shelved and painted it blue, as well as adding the right door handle, LED lights and the iconic light bulb on top.

"I won't feel like it's fully finished until we have the proper signage on the front, but it's so exciting to work on with my son."
