A ghost-hunting family likened to the Addams Family has filled a room in their house with "haunted" objects - and will camp in it this Halloween.

JP Kennedy, 34 and Kymmi Jeffery, 39, moved into their home in Winsford, Cheshire, in 2022 and suspected it was haunted.

Soon the parents and their daughters Snow, 11, and Pebble, eight, began setting up cameras and became fascinated by all things spooky.

They bought a hearse, which they call Morticia, in a nod to the Addams Family - who they are frequently compared to.

They go on family ghost hunts and collect objects rumored to be haunted - which they keep a designated 'haunted room' in their house.

People send suspected haunted objects to the family from all around the world - but they'll return-to-sender if they aren't haunted enough.

The family say "Halloween is every day" for them - but to make the big day extra spooky they plan to camp overnight in their haunted room.

JP, a teacher, said: "We converted our garage and turned it into our 'haunted room' - but we have so many things it's overflowing.

"The girls aren't fearful, they absolutely love it. They run towards noise, not away.

"People have asked if we make the kids do ghost hunts with us, but we don't. It's just what they want to do!"

When JP and Kymmi first moved into their home, they thought they had a gas leak because of a sulfur smell.

Snow, the eldest daughter of The Occult Family.

But an engineer said there was no leak - then the smell vanished.

JP said: “Sulfur smells can be associated with demons.”

Kymmi, a therapist, said she began hearing sounds in the night - including sounds of a girl crying.

The couple did a ghost tour in August 2022 and, after spotting a ghost on camera, started a ghost hunting business.

Daughters Snow and Pebble wanted in on the action too, visiting ghost hunting sites with JP and Kymmi.

The family go for outings in their Hearse - drawing crowds taking photos of the untraditional family car.

JP said: "We stopped off at the shops in our Hearse near a church once.

"We had a vicar come out and start pouring holy water on the Hearse."

The family all love seeking out uniquely creepy objects - and those they deem to be haunted get a special place in their haunted room.

JP said some of these include a haunted Tamagotchi toy, and a doll called Annie gifted to them by a retired paranormal investigator.

They also have a dybbuk box, thought to enclose an evil entity, a haunted prom dress, and a 'daycare doll' called Rebecca.

JP said: "The prom dress is from America, and it was worn by a girl who was in a car crash on the way to her prom.

"Rebecca came with a coloring book and the pages change.

"We have a supposedly 'killer clown' coming over from America which was present at a shooting in an arcade years ago.

"We get sent things all the time, and we'll give them a two-week trial. If they aren't haunted, we send them back."

It is in this super-haunted room that the family plan to camp to celebrate Halloween this year.

JP said: "We'll get all our haunted items out at once and see what spirits we can pick up.

"Some people think things we've seen are fake, but that means they've just not experienced that thing for themselves yet.

"We'll also open the room up to the public - we've had people from as far away as Newcastle wanting to visit."
