An astronaut has captured mind-blowing green aurora over Earth.
NASA spaceman Don Pettit captured the eerie spectacle from the International Space Station (ISS) on Saturday (April 5).
He described the sight from 260 miles up as "green vaporous turbulence," seen while orbit was "passing between Australia and Antarctica."
An aurora is a natural light display in Earth's sky, typically seen in high-latitude regions near the Arctic and Antarctic.
It occurs when charged particles from the Sun collide with gases in Earth's atmosphere, producing colorful lights such as green, red, blue, or purple that often appear as shimmering curtains or arcs
