Domino’s Pizza founder’s mega estate on the market for nearly $9M

A Michigan estate built and owned by Domino’s Pizza founder Thomas Monaghan is on the market for $8,750,000.

The Retreat at Turtle Point in Ann Arbor stands — a mid-century inspired sprawling sanctuary set on more than 30 private acres — was built in 1996.

The 12-bedroom mansion was envisioned as a personal oasis by Monaghan, who, after building Domino’s Pizza into a global brand, turned his attention to creating a home.

Since hitting the market, it racked up over 3 million views on the popular Zillow Gone Wild social media account in just 72 hours.

Realtor Brent Flewelling said: “I think that is close to breaking some of the records they have."

The estate’s architecture draws inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright, with the main house’s nearly 10,000 square feet of living space featuring soaring ceilings, expansive windows, and organic materials.

“You could imagine a house of this size, it was a multi-year build to do that,” Flewelling said.

“The lot was picked out to be overlooking the valley. That is one of the higher points of the property.”

Beyond the main residence, there is a 4,100-square-foot guest house, with an additional 3,400 square feet in its lower level, and a separate 1,980-square-foot caretaker’s home.

The true heart of the estate is its colossal 34,000-square-foot recreation complex - a private playground featuring both a pickleball and full-court basketball, an indoor swimming pool, sauna, hot tub, racquetball court, an extensive weight and fitness room, a full kitchen, massage room, game room, and library.

Outside, the estate’s amenities include a private car wash, greenhouse, hockey arena, tennis court, golf course, pavilion, and ice rink.

“There is a windmill that pumps water up through for the ambiance when you drive in,” Flewelling added.

"There is also a three-storey treehouse, trampoline, full playground, bocce ball court, and probably about 60 raised beds for flowers, vegetables, all of that.”
