Mystery of ominous black smoke ring in sky finally solved

The mystery of an ominous black smoke ring over Kansas has been solved.

Frankie Camren caused headlines around the world after filming the phenomenon floating above Bonner Springs earlier in May.

Online conspiracy theories included a swarm of bees, the trail of a UFO or even a "portal to hell."

But Frankie turned detective and tracked down the source of the smoke - and it turned out to be a local hobby mechanic who created a homemade smoke cannon.

New footage shot by Frankie shows him declaring "We're going to find out the truth on where the black rings come from," before witnessing the man in a local field igniting a flame burst in a machine hooked up to a trailer.

Frankie says the man, who appears to be nicknamed 'jonnylong', uses compressed air to get the smoke to form the circle as it rises.
