Stormtrooper helmet fetches over $250,000 at ‘Star Wars’ auction

The auction offered nearly 200 lots, including rare posters, blueprints, props, production materials, and memorabilia from the world’s top Star Wars collectors.

An original Stormtrooper helmet has sold for $256K in a Star Wars memorabilia auction.

The costume piece is believed to be featured in key scenes in 1977's New Hope film, including on Tatooine as a "Sandtrooper" and escorting Princess Leia to be confronted by Darth Vader.

The weekend auction offered nearly 200 lots, including rare posters, blueprints, props, production materials, and memorabilia from the world’s top Star Wars collectors.

Other sale highlights in the Julien's Auctions San Diego sale included Ewan McGregor “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” Liam Neeson “Qui-Gon Jinn” and Ray Park “Darth Maul” Lightsaber Props from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace which went for $153,600 total.

Original stunt lightsaber props used by Ewan McGregor ("Obi-Wan Kenobi") and Liam Neeson ("Qui-Gon Jinn") in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (each sold for $38,400)

Original lightsaber hilt prop screen-used by Ray Park as “Darth Maul” in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace ($76,800)

Screen-matched Resistance pilot “Red Four” helmet from Star Wars: The Force Awakens with a Lucasfilm certificate of authenticity ($32,000)

Original hero metal GLIE-44 blaster used by Oscar Isaac as "Poe Dameron" in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens ($44,800)

Rare original 1983 Kenner card back proofs for the 3.75" scale action figures of Princess Leia Organa, C-3PO, and Boba Fett related to Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, from when the film was briefly titled Revenge of the Jedi (each $10,240)

Original production-made lightsaber for Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), cast from molds of a touring lightsaber from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi ($25,600)

Original prop right hand worn by Anthony Daniels as C-3PO in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back ($16,000), and a film production-made "C-3PO" reference left hand prop for Disney Imagineers ($8,960)

"Holographic Tumbler" ensemble designed by Bob Mackie, worn in the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special

Industrial Light & Magic-made Stormtrooper appearance costume ($12,800)

"The Jedi Adventure Center" framed design artwork with transparencies, color palette, original sketch, etc. ($16,000; 20x the $800 estimate)
