Holy bid, Batman! Super rare hero suits and props to be auctioned off

By Dean Murray

Superhero fans will have a chance to bid on screen-used pieces from their favorite films and TV shows in an upcoming auction.

Propstore's Los Angeles event features highlights including costumes and props from titles including Batman, Spider-Man and Avengers.

The auction will feature over 1,000 rare lots, with the standout offering being the Batsuit worn by Michael Keaton in Tim Burton’s Batman (1989).

More than three decades after the film’s release, this is considered one of the finest surviving examples from the production and is offered with a pre-sale estimate of $250,000 - $500,000.

Other notable lots include Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 (2004) costume ($100,000–$200,000); Chris Evans’ magnetic‑return Captain America shield from Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) ($60,000–$120,000); a screen‑matched, light‑up miniature of the Joker’s helicopter from Batman (1989) ($20,000–$40,000); and Margot Robbie’s “Good Night” baseball bat from Suicide Squad (2016) ($25,000–$50,000).

Brandon Alinger, Propstore COO, commented on the upcoming event: “Superhero and villain memorabilia holds a special place in pop culture, representing timeless stories of courage, conflict, and imagination.

"This auction brings together some of the most iconic costumes and props from both the DC and Marvel universes, including pieces worn and wielded by the actors who brought these legendary characters to life.

"Propstore is thrilled to offer fans and collectors the rare opportunity to own items that have defined generations of blockbuster cinema.”
