250-year-old home built by US founding father up for sale
John Hancock's house in Boston, Mass., is on the market for $1.65 million.

A house built by U.S. founding father John Hancock is up for sale for the first time in generations.
Spanning three stories, Ebenezer Hancock House is located on 10 Mashall Street, Boston, Massachusetts.
The historic home was built in 1767, by John Hancock, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. This is the first time in generations it has been listed for sale.
The listing price is currently undisclosed, but the city recently assessed the property at $1.65 million, according to WBZ News.
This Boston Landmark is on the National Registry of Historic Places.
It is reportedly the site where Ebenezer Hancock, deputy paymaster of the Continental Army and John Hancock’s younger brother, stored two million silver crowns, loaned by the French government, before disbursement to the troops.
Currently in use as a law office, the original structure was expanded in the 1970s.
Hancock was born in 1737, working as a merchant and was the president of the Continental Congress when the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776.
He was the first governor of Massachusetts, serving from 1780 to 1785, and then again from 1787 to 1793.
According to Commercial Real Estate Broker, David Killen, this is the last known property associated with Hancock in Boston.
