A 903.5kg entrant has won the Danish Giant Pumpkin Championship.

Nordic record-holder Peter Holst Olsen claimed the national title in the contest held at Copenhagen’s Tivoli Gardens.

Runner-up Emil Troung Hansen’s entry weighed in at 439.5kg, while the Danish and Nordic records of 1,115.8kg, set in 2024, remain unbroken.

All nine giant pumpkins from the contest will stay on display until 2 November during Tivoli’s Halloween season.

Peter Holst Olsen said: "Anyone can relatively easily grow a 200–300 kg pumpkin if they get hold of the right seeds.

"The secret is lots of care, spring water, and generous amounts of fertilizer from chickens and cows.

"My pumpkin had the best possible conditions with warmth, carefully measured water, and plenty of sunshine.

"I’m incredibly proud of this win and aim to set a new record next year.

"But first, I’ll enjoy some time off—because growing a giant pumpkin takes a lot of time and attention."

Olsen took home a prize check for $873 and a package of Tivoli experiences.
